Well I picked up Rustys adjustable Track bar and bracket. I am at 3" right now and I am going to go a little taller
so I figured the adjustable would be a good way to go. The install is not bad. I sprayed the 4 bolts that hold the factory
bracket in place the night before. If you can do it for a few days it would be better. Not much of a problem with the top
2. Well except for the fact that one is right next to the spring and I could not get a watched on it. I used a box wrench
on it. Now the bottom 2 are a different story. They are held in place with lock tight. They are a real pain to get off
so using a breaker bar is a plus. I know a few people that used a 3-foot braker bar and it still was a pain. Mine was only
about a foot and a half. The blots have welded nuts on the frame and guess what? You got it the back one broke off the
weld. So make sure you have a good set of small vise grips. Not a cheep set since the nut in the back is round so you
need a good set to get a good bite on it. I tried a cheep set and nothing. It took a little bit but the Vise grip grand
worked out and I got the bolt off. I quick ride to the store for a bolt and a washer and I am back in business. I did not
take the track bar off the bracket. It was one less thing to do and if I want to put it back on it's going to be an easy
job. I figured I would bring it on the trail as a back up. Now I put on Rustys bracket. Make sure it is tight, I mean
tight as you can get it so there is not movement of the bracket. I then disconnected the track bar on the axle. That was
not a big deal either came right out. I attached Rustys track bar to the axle and then shook the hell out of the Jeep from
side to side. This was to help get the Jeep over the axle. Then just adjust the other end the holes in the bracket matched
the hole in the tack bar. Installed the supplied mounting bolt for the track bar and bracket and tightened it all down again.
I had some one get in the Jeep and turn the steering wheel back and forth from lock to lock as I watched underneath to one
make sure the new bracket was not moving and two watch the slop in the ends of the track bar. So I went and tightened both
ends of the track bar down again. The bar was moving a little bit but stopped when I retightened every thing. I would
really do that step. That is it. My steering wheel is off a little bit but I am not worried about it yet since I will be
lifting it again so I will fix it them. It rides nice and there are no problems.
